Staff & Vestry

Rector: The Rev. Dr. Andrea P. Baldyga was born and raised in Boston, MA. She
completed her BS and MD degree in 1980 from the Boston University Six
Year Medical Program with a double major of pre-medical science and
music. She completed her surgical residency at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT and then pursued a Cardiothoracic Surgery residency at UNC Chapel Hill. After
being a surgeon at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles, she did further
training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH, where she
was the surgical director of the post-operative cardiothoracic ICU
until she left to go to seminary. She was
board certified in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and critical
care medicine. While at the Clinic, she served on the advisory board of
the Pastoral Care Residency, and received the Educator of the Year
Award from the pastoral care department in 2003. She was among the
first women in general surgery in the early 1980’s and is one of the
very first women to have completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency.
Rev. Baldyga completed her first year of seminary at the St. Mary’s Catholic Seminary in Cleveland, OH and then finished her seminary education at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA in 1998. She
was ordained a deacon in 1998 and priest in 1999 in the Episcopal
Diocese of Ohio. She has served parishes in Episcopal West Side Shared
Ministry in Cleveland, St. Thomas’ Church, Pittstown, NJ, St. Luke’s Church, Phillipsburg, NJ and Trinity Church, Easton, PA. Rev. Baldyga began her role as Priest-in-Charge/Rector at the Church of the Redeemer on April 15, 2008.
With
her musical background and love of music, she is a member of the
Association of Anglican Musicians, has been a choir director, an
occasional substitute organist in churches, as well as teaching singing
and chant in choirs.
She moves here to Sayre along with her mother, Genevieve Baldyga. They are happy to be living in a nice home in South Waverly.
Deacon: The Rev. Hazel Hunt
The Rev Hazel B. Hunt was ordained October of 2001. She has served as
Deacon in the Church of Redeemer since July of 2005. She has previously
served at Christ Church in Towanda. Hazel completed the 4 year program
Education for Ministry before her ordination. She is also a volunteer
chaplain at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. She is married to
Ronald L Hunt and they have one son Jeffery.

Director of Music: Kay Bennett began
playing the organ and piano at the age of 4 and has been a piano/voice
instructor in the Valley area for the past 25 years. She was a Drama
major at Mansfield University and has been involved in many local
productions with The Winding River Players as well as with the Theatre Grove Company.
She has been a church organist for many years and is currently the
Music Director for the Church of the Redeemer in Sayre. She is married
with one son and is a stay-at-home medical transcriptionist.

Parish Administrator: Debbie Wells
As Parish Administrator, Debbie's duties are to coordinate the
scheduling of the parish hall, printing of the weekly bulletins and the
monthly newsletter, and the recording of pledge receipts. Her usual
office hours are from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm Monday through Friday. She

Sexton: Thomas Colegrove
As Sexton, Thomas Colegrove's duties are to maintain the physical
appearance of the interior of the church buildings and to oversee the
general utilization of the rooms in the parish hall. He can be reached

Redeemer Review, Editor: Terri House
As Editor of Redeemer's monthly newsletter, Redeemer Review, Terri's
duties are to coordinate and publish articles and parish related events in
a printed format as well as updating the Website and submitting
articles of publicity to the local papers. Terri can be reached through
her email address at thouse2@stny.rr.com The deadline for articles for the Church Newsletter
is around the 20th of each month.
