June 27-July 1 six members of our youth group and two youth members of St. John’s Lutheran church will be traveling to Houston Texas to attend a national Youth event called “This Changes Everything” where 30,000+ gather to deepen their faith. Seven adults from both Church’s will be chaperoning the trip, which will also hold a work mission experience, and in light of the recent flooding, I am sure there will be plenty to do. This event will be a life changing experience for all and I am sure hearts and minds will be opened.
In light of this trip, we are holding two fund raising events in the month of February. The first is a Super Bowl Hoagie and Soup Sale. Both the soups, made by the Sunday school staff, and the hoagies, made fresh by the Youth Group, promise to be delicious as always. Included in the newsletter you will find an order blank, or you may call the church office or Margaret Cole by Thursday, Feb. 1st. and get a head start on your Super Bowl fare.
The second is a “Flapjack Fundraiser” held at Applebee’s on Feb. 17th from 8am-10am. The Youth group will be selling tickets at all services. Please support us in funding this very important step in the faith journey of our youth.
